I got a bit overwhelmed last week--information overload. Our announcement for this week suggest that if you haven't been an avid participator to try to see how your perspective changes if you start to post more frequently and lurk less frequently, and visa versa if you have been participating daily.

That being said, I think last week I did much more lurking than I did posting and responding and that's why the end of my week was overwhelming. So new goal for this week is to take time to post daily and respond to a classmate daily.

We'll see if this approach will help me to spread out the information so I'm not engulfed :)

As I am getting ready to finalize my two communities. I have chosen (I think) Pinterest and 43things. I'm wondering do I have to choose a specific Pinterest topic such as Pinterest:Weddings or Pinterest:DIY or do I just follow the Pinterest board and my homepage suggestions? Or do I do both and include both in our communities paper?

I hope that makes sense. and I look forward to being more active this week and "step out and be a bit more directly involved" and not be such a lurker :)

  1. I think you'll have a better experience if you follow a topic. That's usually how communities start to form, people hanging together around a topic.

I look forward to hearing about your experience of being more active this week!

  2. I love pinterest and thought about trying to follow it but it just seemed to big. I would pick a topic from pinterest. I'm not sure what 43 things is but I would try and relate your two communities. It will make it easier to compare and contrast them in your paper.

  3. 43things is a community where people with common goals go to expand and connect with people who are also trying to achieve the same goals. It's a pretty neat community so far :)
