We learned this week the concept of produsage as an evolving theory of describing and understanding the emerging collaborative environment in which learner content is shaped around the learner. Bruns (2007), suggested that produsage goes far beyond that though. He said, “there is today a wider trend towards the establishment of tools and processes for user-led content creation” but made sure to extend the thought to make it clear that it is still an emerging and evolving shift to user-led content. I would have to say I benefit from produsage every day as I am researching different ID competencies and trending topics. I receive a mass amount of information because of produsage. With what I gain in knowledge I hope to continue and magnify what I can give back to learners. I have gained knowledge from a source and did not spread the good word. I think its important to take in and remember to give back. Vanilla Ice said it best with his lyrics, “Stop, Collaborate, and Listen.”
